A culture built on care

Recognition has always been part of Americare’s DNA, but growth made consistency hard. With Awardco, they built a branded, automated program that boosted engagement, reduced turnover, and strengthened connections.

01 / Challenge

Recognition has always been part of Americare’s DNA, their legacy recognition platform was clunky and didn’t reflect who they were as a company. It wasn’t branded to Americare or conducive to their mostly deskless workforce. It felt transactional, not heartfelt, and that just didn’t fit a culture built on care and connection.

02 / Implementation

To reflect their culture and meet the needs of a deskless workforce, Americare partnered with Awardco to quickly design and launch a fully branded recognition program that led to higher engagement, reduced turnover, and stronger connections across every location.

“When people join Americare, we want them to feel like they're part of something bigger than just a job, that it's part of having purpose because they get to make a difference in residents' lives.” Mary Eaves, Senior VP of Operations (Assisted Living Division)”

How recognition powers unity and reduces attrition risk

Alera Group builds a culture of belonging and company pride with meaningful appreciation and quality swag.

In 2024, Alera Group partnered with Awardco to standardize its peer recognition programs across the company. With this, they shifted their branding of “recognition” to “appreciation” in order to emphasize The Collaborative Way principles. The organizational development team paired this program with its ongoing workshops.

03 / Reported outcomes

Employees began seeing increased numbers of recognitions given by non-managers, and now 70% of colleagues feel they receive appropriate recognition for their efforts. More tenured colleagues are more likely to send recognitions, suggesting program stickiness and momentum. In addition, colleagues receiving recognitions have become 3X more likely to give recognitions themselves, regardless of tenures. This flywheel of appreciation is driving exponential growth of Awardco adoption and, as a byproduct, will be creating a growing impact on retention across all 4,400+ colleagues.

“We launched our The Collaborative Way initiative with a half-day workshop for all colleagues, facilitated by internal Collaborative Way Champions that traveled from office to office. We would do these engaging workshops across the company, and leaders would ask us, ‘Now that colleagues have completed the workshop, how do we keep these principles front and center?’ While we developed other standalone follow-ups, it was only when we implemented Awardco that we truly felt like we had a compelling, daily solution to that question.” ‍”

Despite this engagement outreach programme, AMUR has been able to save around 84 hours a year with Awardco compared to their previous recognition vendor—that's nearly three hours per work day! They use Awardco as their all-in-one recognition, rewards, and reports hub, which means no spreadsheets, manual reports, or time-consuming fulfillment needed.

03 / Reported outcomes

Now, after only three months of outreach, engagement on the platform has increased drastically—2 out of 3 AMUR employees use it at least once a month. Even AMUR executives are getting on and recognising employees!

Luckily, AFCU had already implemented Awardco for their service award programs just months earlier in October 2019. After a smooth launch, they turned to Awardco again to ask if Awardco could help them reimagine their bonus program digitally.

“Before Awardco we had very little insight into our physical recognition programs, but now we have real-time budgetary updates, an incredible time savings, and more options for rewards than ever. It's been a game changer”
